FAQ
Frequently asked
I require general information about the classes
Where do Little Music Makers classes take place?
We currently offer our classes in Berlin-Dahlem, Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg, Mitte, Pankow, Prenzlauer Berg, Schöneberg and Zehlendorf as well as in Hamburg.
When do new classes start?
We offer 3 semesters each year. New classes start every January, April and September and always run for 10 weeks.
At what age can my child participate?
We offer classes for children of 9 months to 4 years of age. If your child is younger or older please do not hesitate to contact us. Siblings can be brought along from birth on.
Why are the classes mixed-age?
All children benefit from mixed-age classes – older children as well as younger ones. This has been scientifically proven and is also our experience from many years of teaching mixed-age groups. Older children learn empathy and respect for others and benefit from being role models for the younger ones. Younger children are often fascinated by older children and imitate them. Another advantage of mixed-age groups is that the parents compare their children less with others – therefore there will be less expectations and pressure. For families with more than one child another advantage is obvious: They can all participate together in the same class.
My child does not speak English, can we still take part?
No problem! Knowledge of English is not required to join our classes.
How many children are in one class?
The number of participants ranges from 6 to 12 families.
What kind of music do you use in the classes?
We use a great mix of popular English and German songs newly arranged with English lyrics as well as songs that have been composed by us. We work with different keys and musical styles like jazz, blues, rock, pop, folk, world and classical music. Our music is not only fun for the kids, but also for the parents!
In total we have 6 different music collections which are each named after a color. This means 6 semesters (2 consecutive years) without repetition. Just have a listen … here you can find a few of our songs.

How can we take a demo lesson?
We offer two weeks of demo lessons during our ‘demo weeks’ in each running semester. We also offer occasional demo lessons in classes with open spots at the beginning of the semester. Please let us know if you would like to get to join us for a demo lesson. We are happy to add you to our demo mailing list.
How can we sign up for a class?
You can easily sign up online. Please have a look at our class schedule which includes information on classes with open spots and a link to our online registration form. After you sign up, we will get back to you within 2 to 3 days with a registration confirmation by email. Your registration is binding only after you receive our email. Your spot in class is firmly reserved for you once we have received your payment.
Families who are already participating in the current semester have priority in the allocation of class spots. They will have the opportunity to pre-register for the next semester before the official registration phase begins. After this pre-registration phase we open our courses for new families.
We would be happy to add you to our mailing list and to let you know when the registration phase begins. Please register for our newsletter if you wish to be informed.
Is it possible to join a class that has already started?
Yes, absolutely. If there are still open spots available it is possible to join a course during the semester.
How much does the class cost?
The price for a class for one child is 175 €. This includes a songbook and a CD. The participation of a sibling aged 10 months or older costs 85 € – so a total of 260 € for two children. Siblings under the age of 10 months (age at the start of the class) can participate for free.
Can we book a class without songbook and CD?
No, songbook and CD are an important part of the course so that you can continue making music at home. Children learn through repetition!
Our music collections are named by colors. Should you already have participated in a semester of the same color and already have songbook and CD at home you can book the course without course materials.
Is it possible to bring a guest child?
Let us know in advance if you are planning on bringing a guest child, so that we are able to check whether there is enough space in class. The participation of a guest costs 10 € for one lesson. In the first lesson of the semester, however, we would like to ask you to only come with your own children so that we can adjust to the new course setting first.
I have already signed us, but …

It depends …
Winter holidays: yes

Summer holidays: no classes

can I bring a sibling?
Yes, you can bring the sibling along. Under the age of 10 months your younger child can even participate for free. From 10 months of age (age at the start of the course) a lesson costs 10 €, if the sibling is not registered for the course. However, the first participation in the course is free of charge.

Your child does not necessarily have to come with a parent. It can also be accompanied by a different adult (e.g. babysitter, grandmother).
we would like to bring our grandpa/grandma/aunt or uncle along, is that ok?
Additional adults from the family such as babysitter, grandparents, aunt or uncle are welcome to join on an occasional basis.
my friend would like to have a look at the course, can I bring her along?
Please do not bring other families to class as we do not have the capacity to accommodate them. We offer demo lessons on a regular basis, though. Just ask your friend to contact us to be put on our mailing list for demo lessons. We will then invite her/him to a demo lesson.
what happens if we have to cancel our registration?
For cancellations more than 3 days before the first lesson of the course starts, the course fee will be refunded minus a 25 € administration fee.
For cancellations made less than 3 whole days before the first lesson of the course starts, no refund of the course fee is possible. The transfer of a booked course spot to another family or credits to another semester is not possible. Missed lessons cannot be transferred to another family.
